Songkran festival is the celebration of the Thai New Year, this year falling on April 13th. It marks the start of the solar year, as well as the start of the summer season.
Traditionally, the Thai people performed water pouring rituals on Buddha statues.
This represents purification and the washing away of one’s sins and bad luck.
Taking inspiration from Songkran, we decided to throw our own version of the water festival… Instead of the streets of Bangkok we’ve opted for the Redbrick of Southampton Uni.
1000 water balloons & 200 water pistols later, here are some of the photos of the wet and wild day of celebration!
Big thanks to David & Joyce, our Southampton BAs, for their awesome effort on the event.
